Dr. Yoo,

Below I provided the websites where the corresponding programs can be downloaded. If anything else is needed, please let me know.

Putty is a windows tool to remotely access the server. Winscp is a windows tool to get and send files to server. Providing a bit more information, e.g., server IP addresses, etc., will be helpful.

I have tried to download the tar file using putty. I can see the file with "ls" command, however, trying several times with different commands, I could not download the file. I tried sftp pscp and all other commands that I could find in the internet. I went very close to downloading the files in sftp, with the command "get" but said that it is only for the usual file type (not for tar.gz. may be?). Using scp it takes the command, however, it do not start to download anywhere. Any suggestion regarding this issue, Please?

Also, I tried to connect through WinSCP it exactly says ; "No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.
Connection failed".

If you can connect via putty, you may just learn how to use terminal editors, e.g., vi, emacs, etc., instead of downloading the tar.gz file.

It is strange you get a connection error only with WinSCP. Since you can connect to the sever with putty, I suggest you check your firewall settings.

This is useful for anyone using an apple computer to run banjo on the server.

I utilized Apple's terminal program to access the server. Finder -> Applications -> Utlities -> Terminal

From Terminal, click Shell -> New Remote Connection

I then used Filezilla to transfer files to/from the server: https://filezilla-project.org/

Hope this helps,

Mark

I am using Mac OS X El Capitan, Version 10.11

I had Mac OS X Snow Leopard Version 10.6 beforehand, but it seems most of the SFTP programs require version 10.7 and higher, so I had to update to a more current OS.

Mark,
I am currently familiarizing myself with Banjo on Mac OS X Yosemite 10.10.5 and starting to run it. Do you recommend I update my software to Mac OS X El Capitan, Version 10.11? Thanks.

Some of the SFTP programs require an updated OS. I think you will be ok with Yosemite 10.10.5.

If you want to access the servers from outside FIU, you need to now use Virtual Private Network (VPN) tools. You may find more about it at:
